Luanda, Angola – July 28 – Raxio Group, the data centre operator with the widest footprint across Africa, has appointed Maria Miguel Pinto as General Manager of Raxio Angola, strengthening its leadership team with one of the country’s foremost digital executives.
Pinto joins Raxio from IBM, where she served as Country General Manager for Angola. She previously held senior technology leadership roles in the banking sector, including as Chief Information Officer at Banco de Fomento Angola (BFA), one of the country’s largest financial institutions. With a 15-year track record of delivering enterprise technology solutions across multiple sectors, she brings a unique mix of strategic, operational, and local expertise to her new role.
“This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Angola’s digital future at a time of massive momentum,” said Pinto. “Raxio’s mission to deliver world-class infrastructure across Africa aligns with my passion for using technology to drive inclusive growth, and my focus on building a stronger, more resilient local digital ecosystem.”
Raxio Group is Africa’s leading provider of data centres guaranteeing high reliability and uninterrupted service even during maintenance, in full compliance with Tier III standards. The company’s data centres span Uganda, Ethiopia, Mozambique, DRC, and Côte d’Ivoire, with further facilities imminent in Angola and under development in Tanzania. The carrier-neutral co-location facilities enable Raxio to service a diverse range of companies while offering flexibility and cost savings by interconnecting with multiple network and internet service providers.
As General Manager, effective immediately, Pinto is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Raxio’s Angola business, including customer engagement, regulatory alignment, and strategic growth. Her appointment marks a key milestone as Raxio prepares to expand its infrastructure footprint in Angola, supporting the country’s rapid economic diversification from oil through digital infrastructure.
“Maria brings a rare combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and a deep understanding of Angola’s digital and economic landscape,” said Robert Skjødt, CEO at Raxio Group. “Her leadership will be central to our success as we scale operations and support the country’s digital evolution.”
